The Body Shop Satsuma Body Butter

The Body Shop Satsuma Body Butter
Travel Size (1.5 oz)
tub is a little smaller than the palm of my hand
$5 at Ulta

rich, thick, white cream body butter

Satsuma- seedless and easy to peel citrus fruit (kind of like a small orange or tangerine)
I include this definition because I didn't know it myself, thanks Wikipedia!

The Review...

Let me just start off by saying that I have never tried The Body Shop body butters. Frankly, the term "body butter" makes me nervous. It instantly makes me think "heavy and greasy"...two words I don't like associated with my body lotion. Like most people, I enjoy moisturizing my skin after my shower, especially after shaving my legs but if there's one thing I can't stand, its that greasy feeling left on my skin afterwards.
I can safely say that this did not leave me with that feeling at all. This body butter is thick and rich but doesn't leave that greasy residue on my skin. It absorbs into my skin quickly, leaving it soft and moisturized.
This cream has a light, refreshing citrus scent....kind of like a mix of orange and grapefruit. I've enjoyed throwing this little guy in my purse and applying it to my hands throughout the day. (The true "greasy" test is if a product leaves a slippery residue on my steering wheel...which it did not) I can see the buzz with this stuff, it really is a nice product. I'm looking forward to trying more scents from this brand.

Would I repurchase...
Yes

New Skincare Haul

Bioderma, Refined Coconut Oil
I recently picked up (and ordered) a couple of new products to add to my skincare routine in the hopes of aiding my dry, irritated skin problems.

Bioderma
$30/bottle from Amazon.com

I think just about everyone has heard about this product at one point or another but I decided to give this stuff a try after reading an empties post from the lovely Amanda of Beauties in Bloom in which she raved about this product. I, like most, have struggled to find a makeup remover that will remove my makeup without completely dissolving my eyeballs with irritation. My eyelids are especially sensitive and this has gotten substantially worse since I've started blogging and adding more makeup products to my daily rountine. So...we'll see, I've used this product only once to remove my makeup and I must say....not the slightest bit of stinging or irritation....so I've got high hopes!

Coconut Oil
$7 from Whole Foods
(located in the baking aisle)

This is another completely raved about product that I wanted to try out for some time now. Coconut oil has many uses from baking to hair care but I wanted to give it a try as my nightly moisturizer. I've done some research and I've run across claims from "brightening" to "dark spot fading" so I was interested to see how this stuff holds up. I have spent quite a bit money on pricey moisturizers and night creams so if all these skincare benefits can be achieved for $7 and a trip to my local Whole Foods...then I'm definitely willing to give it a shot. Again, I have only used this product a couple of times but the oil did absorb into my skin nicely and when I woke, my skin did feel very soft and moisturized...so we're off to a good start.

In the Spotlight: Cold Weather Lip Combo

Like most, I'm still feeling the effects of the cold winter air on my skin, especially my lips. It seems I have been on a constant search for the perfect lip balm to moisture and protect my weather-beaten lips. I have tried many balms and treatments over this past winter but few have matched the healing and restoring qualities of this combo...

During the Day...

Carmex Moisture Plus Ultra Hydrating Lip Balm

  • Contains Vitamin E and Aloe
  • Contains Sunscreen/SPF 15
This smooth, ultra moisturizing formula gives me that instant relief, medicated healing feeling of traditional Carmex, without that waxy feel on the lips. The small, slant tip makes application quick and easy...and I don't have to stick my finger in a pot...bonus!

At Night...

Neosporin Overnight Renewal Therapy
White Petrolatum Lip Protectant
  • Active Ingredient: 77.4% White Petrolatum
  • claims to repair and nourish as you sleep
  • claims to restore visibly healthier lips in 3 days
Its safe to say I saw healthier lips after just one night. I would go to sleep with red, painfully chapped lips and would wake up to completely smooth and moisturized lips. This thick, rich cream would stay on my lips all night, without feeling waxy or sticky at all. Very soothing and repairing product!

Burt's Bees Radiance Night Cream

Quick note on a night cream I've been loving lately. I was visiting my sister in Denver this past year and I neglected to remember that the climate is a tad bit different in Denver than it is in Texas. What an idiot. So my usual night cream was not holding up to those Denver winter nights, so I made an emergency trip to the drugstore for a more heavy duty cream. I picked this cream at random and I have been loving it ever since.

This cream is rich, thick, and has a refreshing milk and honey scent. This gives me the perfect balance of moisture...I don't feel like my skin drinks it up, then feels dry afterwards nor does it leave me with that slick, greasy feeling. In fact, if I'm having a particularly dry skin day, I can apply this cream LIGHTLY to my face to give it that extra boost of moisture but I don't have to worry about it breaking down my makeup throughout the day. This cream is such a pleasure to put on, I actually look forward to it when I get home from a long shift at work and when I wake up in the morning, my skin feels smooth and refreshed.

I will definitely be picking up the Burts Bees Radiance Day Cream once my Olay Complete daily moisturizer is gone.
