All Nude Review: Liners

Ode To The Neutral Eye...

I have been a fan of Stila Kajal Eye Liner in Topaz for some time now. I love the brightened effect it adds to my eyes, especially when I'm not feeling so bright and awake. When worn on the waterline, it can do wonders for tired, red, and irritated eyes so when I heard there was a new nude liner on the scene...(and the drugstore scene no less)...I had to try it out.

Here's what I thought...

Top:  Stila Kajal Eyeliner in Topaz ($18)
Bottom:  Rimmel Waterproof Kohl Kajal Eyeliner in #005 Nude ($6)

 On the Eyes...

Rimmel Nude
yellow-toned concealer shade

Stila Topaz
warm peachy shade

Stila Topaz, Rimmel Nude

I'm a huge fan of lining my waterline with a nude eyeliner to makeup my eyes appear bigger, brighter, and more awake. I especially like this trick when I'm wearing dark, dramatic eye makeup because it keeps my eyes from looking too closed off or small.

Review...

The texture of these two liners are very similar. Both are soft, creamy, and glide on the waterline with minimal effort. Both liners have nice staying power on my eyes but I did notice the smallest amount of fading through out the day. I could definitely tell the liner was still present, just maybe not quite as opaque. The Rimmel liner is advertised as a waterproof formula (and the Stila is not) but I did not notice a significant difference in the staying power of these products...both performed about the same.

The only major difference I noticed between these two products was the shade of the actual liner. The Rimmel Nude liner is a more yellow concealer tone and the Stila is a warm peachy shade. Both are very brightening on the waterline, it's more about personal preference. I personally prefer the warmth of the Stila liner but have no problem using these liners interchangeably. The Rimmel Nude liner is a nice alternative to Stila Topaz if you don't want to pay the higher price tag.

I enjoy these products and will continue to use them both on a daily basis for that bright-eyed, bushy tailed eye look...no matter how drop dead tired I really am.

Would I repurchase...
Yes...to both

  1. Great review, I've been on the hunt for the Rimmel liner but lately my Ulta has been out of stock.

Also, I love the shadow that you used for this look!

  2. Nudes are timeless the only thing is nudes on the eyes aren't as awesome as the white eyeliner in my very humble opinion .

    1. Oh, I wore white liner in my waterline for years, and I loved the look but with my fair skin, it can look very harsh. I just prefer the warmth of the nudes a little bettter! Thanks for taking the time to take a look at my blog and leaving a comment!

  3. Oh good heavens your makeup looks stunning. I know I'm supposed to be focused on your waterline, but I can't get over how perfect your eyeshadow and liner is!
